With the Indian contemporary Art finally gaining recognition and status at par with its global counterparts, what is needed is an environment and/or a structure that recognizes, nurtures and brings exposure to the latent talent in India, which needs support. What is required is a platform, where the artist, free from the shackles of mundane problems, not only has the liberty to create but also has a chance of interacting with their peers and art admirers.

Religare Arts Initiative’s residency program has been modeled on such lines, wherein programs will be hosted for artists in both India and abroad. The locations chosen will be rural or urban depending on the inspiration that guides each interaction. This will be a unique Religare Arts Initiative program in conjunction with Indian and international galleries, collectors, museums and Religare Arts Initiative's own group of collaborators who will serve as artistic directors and guide artists to take advantage of repositories of art and craft traditions. Thus not only will the artists remain connected to their audiences and markets, but, through the buzz and visibility generated, the market will be in a state of readiness when the works of art emerge.
