Kaoru Furuko was born in 1983 in Hyogo, Japan, and studied art at both Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia) and Osaka College of Art (Japan). Her main focus is on stop-motion animation, illustration and conceptual art using various forms of expression. Her work has been exhibited occasionally as well as entered international short film festivals. She has a great interest in social and cultural phenomena, has travelled and lived in several countries where she has gained inspiration for her work. She currently resides in Sweden.

In 2007, I received a fellowship from Kyoritsu International Foundation to make animation with this theme, focusing on ethnic minority groups in Vietnam. The final product is “Striped Tiger and White Rabbit” (2009).
